Time for the activity: ~5-10 minutes
During this activity, you will activate your speaking and discussing skills
Feke will show you a series of statements, to which you will react
Each statement begins with Should ... ? and you will be asked to agree or disagree as well as voicing your opinion
You react with either giving them a thumbs up or a thumbs down, using Yes, I agree ... or No, I disagree ... signs
Prepare to motivate your answer and share it with the rest of the class
Statements:
Should 21 be the legal age to buy alcohol?
Should Sweden legalize cannabis and marijuana?
Should car drivers have to renew their driver’s licence every 10 years?
Should the school cafeteria only serve vegetarian options, removing animal food products?
Should we limit the amount of travel people are allowed - by plane, car, or train - in order to save the environment?

During this exercise, you will develop your speaking and discussing skills
By yourself or together with classmates, select two of three adverts
Snickers, Nike, Dove
Analyze the adverts - how have they used ethos, pathos and logos?
Take notes - this is your exit ticket!
Example: Coca-Cola's "Share a Coke" Campaign
Ethos: Use of recognizable branding and credibility
Pathos: Elicits emotions on a personal level
Logos: Suggests that sharing a Coke brings people together

Advertisement example: Dove's "Real Beauty" Campaign
Ethos: Focus on authenticity and that real people, regardless of background, uses their product.
Pathos: Evokes emotions by challenging beauty standards across age, ethnicity and culture
Logos: You would (they argue) become more beautiful if using their product
Advertisement example: Nike's "Just Do It" Campaign
Ethos: Using famous athletes to establish credibility and quality of the product
Pathos: Inspires a sense of determination and passion for sports, using a role-model in the advert
Logos: Implies that using Nike products will lead to success in sports
Advertisement example: Snickers' "You're Not You When You're Hungry" Campaign
Ethos: Recognizable brand and popular endorsement with a strong slogan
Pathos: Humorous and relatable portrayal of hunger in various situations
Logos: Suggests that Snickers satisfies hunger, solving any problems that hunger might have produced
