Basic activity: warm-up statements

Time for the activity: ~5-10 minutes

  1. You are going to sit in a half-circle and see a set of statements.

  2. Each statement begins with Should ... ? and you will be asked to agree or disagree as well as voicing your opinion.

  3. Use your Yes, I agree ... or No, I disagree ... signs and enjoy!

  • Teachers be required to attend university to remember what it is like being a student?

  • We legalise cannabis and marijuana?

  • Car drivers have their driver’s licence reevaluated every 10 years?

  1. Record your opinion on Flipgrid after watching The Great Debate.

  2. For example, select one:

      • What do you think, should we abolish animal testing for medical research?

      • What difference does it make that one of the speakers stops and does retakes?

      • What strategies do you have for coping with nervousness?

      • In your opinion, who won the debate?

  3. Use at least one word from the vocabulary list.
