A spoken test where you discuss and motivate your opinions concerning news items
Lessons
Spoken test: NEWS FLASH
NEWS FLASH is a local show where current events meet thoughtful conversation.
In an age where information is just a click away, how do we know what to trust? How do we separate fact from fiction? Reliable sources from the noise? These are the questions we’ll be discussing together on the show. NEWS FLASH is an interactive experience, where your voices are just as important as the stories themselves.
You are going to participate in NEWS FLASH, a ~15 minute conversation with another student, where you are going to discuss artificial Intelligence (AI), news, fake news, social media and deepfakes.
Before participating in NEWS FLASH, you will need to research a news item and prepare to be able to:
Bring an example of a news item
Describe the news item
Explain if we can trust it and not
Actively participate in a discussion with a classmate
Grammar: modal verbs
Modal verbs help convey attitudes, possibilities, obligations, permissions, and more, allowing us to communicate more precisely
Learning helps you: keep a conversation going and to add new perspectives
