Broad inversions
MMS-4c1: Connect the definition (1. Adverb) with the example sentences (B. He ran quickly...)
For example:
1.Adverbs explain when, where or how actions occur ➜ B. He ran quickly.
2. Adjectives provide information or attributes of a noun ➜ A. The table is green.
3. Understanding a situation

C. Never have I been more insulted!
D. Only when she told him did he know.

MMS-4c2: Make at least four (4) sentences using inversions.
Focus on describing:
a unique situation
a short amount of time
understanding a situation
not understanding a situation
Inversions summary - improve formality and drama
Move a negative or limiting adverb to the beginning of the sentence
Add an auxiliary (helping) verb
If necessary, change the tense of the verb
Add a subject
Use these adverbs when you want to express:
a unique situation ➜ never, rarely, and seldom
a short amount of time or almost not ➜ hardly, barely, no sooner, scarcely
understanding a situation ➜ only when, only then or only as soon as
not understanding a situation ➜ little
For example:
I rarely watch tv ➜ Rarely do I watch tv (note: we had to add the helping verb “do”)
She had hardly sat down to eat dinner when there was a knock at the door ➜ Hardly had she sat down to eat dinner when there was a knock on the door
