By yourself or together with classmates, come up with a short ‘story’ using one of each linking word:

E.g.,: Students such as Feke are incredibly annoying, but Richard is never like that, and Feke will be dispelled from class.

Part 1:
Change the sentences with the words in parenthesis. Use your whiteboard
She was tired, but she finished her homework. (however)
I went to bed early because I was exhausted. (since)
They decided to walk to the park, and they took their dog with them. (as well as)
I forgot my umbrella, so I got wet. (consequently)
We stayed indoors because it was raining. (due to)
She is good at math and science. (in addition to)

Function: synonym to “and”; gives more information, provide examples
Examples: such as, for instance, as well, in addition, furthermore, moreover
Cause and effect. A ➜ B.
Function: synonym to “because”; tells us why, provide results
Examples: due to, since, therefore, on the condition that, consequently, in order to
Compare and contrast. A ≠ B.
Function: synonym to “but”; compare to see if examples are similar or not
Examples: in comparison, in contrast to, however, despite, in spite of, whereas
