Lessons

Essay: Peer Pressure & Making Choices

You are writing an article for the teen magazine The Crossroads and their latest issue that focuses on navigating the challenges of adolescence. Your target audience is European students aged 15-20 – teenagers who also have read Inventing Elliot and face similar choices you do.

Write a text about how we all face pressure to conform and follow expectations, sometimes from friends, family, or even social media. This pressure can be strong, and it can be difficult to know when to stand your ground and be true to yourself.

TITLE: Peer Pressure & Making Choices

Your essay needs to use Elliot's experience from Inventing Elliot as a starting point, but feel free to include your own experiences or observations as well. You must also include what you believe Elliot did after the ending of the novel -- how do you think it ends?

Your essay should follow the standard essay format and should be at least 250 words but not more than 600. Remember to explain, give examples, discuss, and compare different aspects of peer pressure and its impact. Proofread your work carefully before submitting.

Use some of or all of the points when planning and writing your text:

Grammar: prefixes and suffixes

Prefixes and suffixes are word parts that are added to the beginning or end of a word to change its meaning or function in a sentence.

Learning helps you: understand and build new words and improve spelling.
