What do you remember of the main themes, events or characters introduced so far in Freedom Writers? Choose one categoru and take notes on your whiteboard:

• Theme: Explain why a theme (racism, hope, education, belonging) matters in the story

• Event: Explain important events that happened and why it was significant for a character

• Characters: Explain their key traits or details you noticed and challenges they face

For example: Erin Gruwell is an optimistic teacher who struggles to connect with her students. Not only do they feel that school has let them down, they also fight each day to survive …
