Singular subjects = Singular verbs (ending in -s).
Plural subjects = Plural verb (no -s).
Find the true grammatical subject from distracting phrases to use the correct verb form.
“Distracting” phrases, dependent clauses or expressions like along with, as well as, together with, and including are never part of the main subject.
When subjects are connected by neither... nor or either... or, the verb agrees with the subject closest to the verb.
Demonstratives must match the number of the noun they modify directly, regardless of where they sit in the sentence.
Pay close attention to the article before the noun:
A number of... = Plural verb
The number of... = a single specific count = Singular verb
Every / Each... = considers items one by one = Singular verb

What message or opinion is the creator communicating or hiding behind the humour?
Is the criticism effective? Why or why not?
How might different audiences react?
